304 criminals behind bars during December

SANDTON – The Sandton police arrested a total of 304 suspects during December.

 

The Sandton police have had a successful December with a massive 304 arrests.

This according to Brigadier Egen Moodley, station commander at the Sandton Police Station, who provided the breakdown of the successes for the December 2018 period.

The 304 arrests were made over 18 different crime categories:

  • 59 arrests were made for driving under the influence of alcohol
  • 25 were arrested for shoplifting
  • 22 arrests for theft
  • 6 suspects arrested for theft of a motor vehicle
  • 5 arrest for armed robbery
  • 2 suspects arrested for common robbery
  • 10 arrest for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm
  • 10 arrests for assault common
  • 18 arrests for fraud
  • 2 arrests for rape
  • 4 arrests for possession of stolen property
  • 8 arrested for malicious damage to property
  • 3 arrests for pointing of a firearm
  • 2 arrests for possession of a hijacked motor vehicle
  • 3 arrests for reckless and negligent driving
  • 1 arrest for possession of a stolen motor vehicle
  • 1 arrest for possession of an unlicensed firearm
  • 123 were arrested for public violence.
