Sandton robber gets 15-year jail term

SANDTON – The man was arrested earlier this year and accused of stealing computer equipment totalling over R700 000.

Sandton police officers recently celebrated a 15-year prison sentence imposed for a business robbery.

Granville Meyer, the spokesperson for the Sandton Police Sation said this conviction is indicative of the high priority placed by the South African Police Services (SAPS) on investigations into priority crimes, such as robberies.

On 15 February this year, in the early hours of the morning, the accused, with two other accomplices, robbed a retail shop in the Sandton policing precinct. Computer equipment totalling R738 000 was stolen. The accused was then positively identified at an identification parade.

Detective Constable Aubrey Tshisani was congratulated by the court for his sterling work during the investigation of this case. The outcome of this case was well received by the station management who congratulated the investigating officer for ensuring a conviction.
