WATCH: Drunk policeman filmed outside Sandton Police Station

SANDTON – A video of a drunk off-duty police officer has emerged.

A video has emerged of a drunk male outside the Sandton Police Station who is alleged to be a warrant officer at the same station.

The short video shows a man dressed in civilian clothes lying on the floor at the entrance to the station.

In the video, there is a group of people around the man on the floor and shortly afterwards he is picked up by a police officer and carried inside the gates of the station. 

Brigadier Mathapelo Peters, the provincial police spokesperson said it is alleged the incident happened on 13 July. “It has since been confirmed that the man in the video is a police member who was off-duty and on vacation leave on the day of the incident.”

She said that Lieutenant general Deliwe de Lange, the Gauteng police commissioner has sanctioned an urgent departmental investigation into this matter.
