#ICYMI: Victim robbed of designer watch in Bryanston [VIDEO]

BRYANSTON – A video has come to light depicting a victim being robbed of his watch at gunpoint.

A video has emerged of a victim allegedly being robbed of his expensive designer watch at gunpoint near the Bryanston Country Club shortly after 4pm on 11 July.

Eblockwatch founder and Bryanston resident, Andre Snyman asked the community to be on the lookout for the white BMW SUV captured in the video.

It seems that two suspects pointed firearms at the victim or victims inside the vehicle while another suspect waited in the getaway vehicle.

According to Snyman, the victim was followed from Hyde Park to Bryanston.

The Sandton Chronicle has contacted the police but still awaits confirmation.

This is a developing story and will be updated as information comes to light.

Captain Granville Meyer spokesperson for the Sandton Police Station gave the following tips to avoid hijackings or robberies inside vehicles:

Meyer said to stay calm during a hijacking or robbery. “In most carjacking situations, the attackers are interested only in the vehicle [orpossessions].

“Avoidance is the best way to prevent an attack. Use your judgement to evaluate the situation and possible reactions. Know safe areas to go to in an emergency.”

Meyer added that non-confrontation is often the best response. “The objective is not to thwart the criminal but to survive!”

The most likely places for a hijacking are:

  • High crime areas
  • Intersections where you have to stop
  • Isolated areas in parking lots
  • Residential driveways and gates
  • Traffic jams or congested areas.

Learn to avoid these areas and situations if possible. If not, take steps to prevent an attack.
