The Liquefied Petroleum Gas Safety Association hosted an awards ceremony at the Sandton Convention Centre to celebrate individuals and businesses that have made an incredible contribution to the industry.

The association represents companies involved with liquid petroleum gas installation, distribution, and hardware and appliances to ensure that safety measures and good business practices are upheld.

The awards ceremony coincided with the two-day Vision in Energy conference which seeks to inspire growth in the energy sector and provide a platform for discussions ranging from the illegal filling of gas to new policies from the Department of Trade and Industry.

Kevin Robertson, the CEO of the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Safety Association enjoys his evening at the awards ceremony celebrating industry leaders.

The event celebrated six winners on the night. They included Syam Distributors for Product of the Year, Fueltec for Installer of the Year, Oryx Energies for Market Developer of the Year, Penguin Gas for Company of the Year and Sunrise Energy for Project of the Year. Individual awards went to Pam Indurjeeth of Oryx for Woman of the Year and a special recognition award was given to Tshiamo Nthebolang of the Department of Labour.

Kevin Robertson, the CEO of the association said the awards, which were started last year, were a way to reward people for their dedication to the industry. “There are a number of people who have contributed to the industry for years and years and they’re coming up with new, innovative ideas so it’s good to give them recognition,” he said.

Robertson added that the industry had grown significantly with many companies coming up with innovative ideas in a bid to remain competitive and address needs in the market.

“We look for people who have made a contribution to the industry and those who are safety compliant, and how they have performed.”
