Crawford Preparatory Sandton comes out on top in Night Challenge

SANDTON – The Montrose Night Challenge final recently took place and saw Crawford Sandton walk away with the top spot.

The Montrose Night Challenge final reached its conclusion as the teams battled it out for the top spot in both cricket and netball.

The challenge started on 2 February and ended on 16 March with more than 450 players participating from different schools.

Rain plagued the start of the first cricket semi-final between Crawford Preparatory Sandton and the GCB Lions. Crawford came out on top in the shortened match due to the wet conditions. The second semi-final was between Dainfern Junior Preparatory College and Grayston Preparatory, with Grayston paving the way to the final.

Crawford went on to win the final.

Several individual awards were handed out to players who performed well during the tournament.

The Morris Man of the Series was awarded to Masande Luthuli of Montrose. Dylan Abro of Crawford walked away with the Best Bowler award, while Richard Seletswana of GCB Lions was awarded the Best Batsman.

In netball, the U11 winners were Crawford Lonehill while the open winners were Redhill.

The Luana Bolnick Trophy winner, for the netball team that displayed the most spirit, camaraderie and sportsmanship, win or lose, was awarded to Dainfern Preparatory.

Mia Boscia of the Redhill open team was awarded the Best Attack, and the Best Defence went to Ashley Nelson of Crawford Sandton.

The Best Shooter was awarded to Lavanya Sinivasin of Reddam, while the Best Open Netball Player went to Simone Banducci of Crawford Sandton.
