Heritage, health and diversity celebrated at Tara

SANDTON - Tara Hospital celebrated excellence in the workplace as well as cultural diversity at a recent awards ceremony.

Tara Hospital hosted its Service Excellence Awards together with celebrating Heritage Month in September.

Staff members gathered in the hospital’s recreational hall dressed in traditional attire and the theme for the event was Excellence in the workplace.

Tara CEO, Dr Florence Otieno acknowledged all special guests and welcomed everyone present. The purpose of the event was to recognise and reward staff members who go the extra mile in contributing to the overall success of Tara Hospital including its vision and mission to provide quality care to their patients. The event also serves to motivate and improve the morale of staff members.

Speaking during his motivational talk, Siphile Buthelezi, director of ButheleziVilakazi Attorneys said, “There is nothing impossible that anyone at any level is able to achieve when they put their mind to it.” He gave a personal example of when he was a taxi driver studying towards his LLB degree.

Many employees of the hospital were awarded for their outstanding work. The employee of the year award went to property caretaker Ronald Makamu. “The employee of the year is awarded to an employee who portrays an excellent and positive attitude towards his work, an individual who goes beyond the call of duty and always available when needed,” said Vuledzani Munzhelele, communications officer for Tara Hospital.
