Auditions for international competition to take place in October

RIVONIA – Talented actors, singers, models and dancers who are ready to take on an international career are encouraged to audition for the International Presentation of Performers (iPOP) taking place at the Rivonia Recreation Club in Paulshof on 14 October.

Talented actors, singers, models and dancers who are ready to take on an international career are encouraged to audition for the International Presentation of Performers (iPOP) taking place at Rivonia Recreation Club in Paulshof on 14 October.

Auditions are taking place at various locations across the country and videos of outstanding talent will be sent to iPOP directors for approval. The selected candidates will then be invited to compete at the convention in Los Angeles in July next year.

Director of DMH Talent Agency, Tanielle Ladwig, who will judge the first round of local auditions, said that those who audition need to be prepared to take their talent to international level.

She reflected on the success of six individuals from South Africa who all received a number of callbacks at the competition earlier this year.

“South Africa brought home more than 80 per cent of the awards, receiving best female actress, best male actor, overall best actor, best sitcom/soap opera, best photographic model, best runway and overall model.

“All of our artists were also selected to perform in the top 10 best performers of various categories. We were most certainly overwhelmed by the success achieved, but found much truth in their words describing our talent as real, passionate and hungry,” said Ladwig.

At the convention, individuals perform in front of 30 to 50 international agents and will also attend workshops for the duration of the week. Ladwig described iPOPas an opportunity to network, build relationships and rub shoulders with the most experienced agents in the USA.

Isabella Maurer and her twin sister Natasha, are two Johannesburg models who made it through to the International Presentation of Performers in Los Angeles last year.

Previous success stories from Sandton include Natasha and Isabella Maurer who attended the convention last year and were offered a job after their first showcase for a fashion show in New York after receiving a number of callbacks, which they will pursue once they have completed their studies.
Actor Bazise Mashabane received a scholarship to the New York Film Academy and is preparing to move to New York in September.

Ladwig described him as an incredible actor who experienced much growth in confidence and self-belief after attending the event.
