MTN launches MegaStar competition for a once in a lifetime opportunity
JOBURG – The Maslow Hotel will be hosting auditions for Johannesburg residents who want to enter the talent competition.
MTN, in partnership with TouchHD, has launched the MTN MegaStar competition, an online talent search that gives aspiring musical talents the opportunity to audition in an online reality series.
Those who enter will stand a chance to win a recording deal with Temple Records, and the opportunity to work with producer Mike Will in Los Angeles.
The online series, which will be available exclusively on MTN Play will feature four South African personalities, Tbo Touch, KO, Kwesta and Nomuzi, who will serve as judges. The show will be presented by actress and a radio personality, Katlego Mohoaduba.
In order to watch the online reality series, MTN subscribers will be required to subscribe for R2 per day, which will give them unlimited access to watch each episode, behind the scenes clips, tasks given to contestants and interviews with the judges. Each episode will be eight minutes long, and new episodes will be available every Wednesday and Sunday.
MTN MegaStar will host auditions in major South African cities and will also allow contestants to audition online by uploading a short video on MTN Play, which will give them a chance to receive an express pass at the regional auditions. The Johannesburg auditions will take place at the Maslow Hotel in Sandton on 16 September.
The top ten selected contestants will be housed in a mansion at Steyn City where they will also be required to perform and complete allocated tasks. The process of elimination will see contestants being eliminated every week based on the public voting. The public will also vote for the winner of the grand prize.
