Skye Goss from Dainfern College celebrated Cell C’s Take a Girl Child to Work Day 2017, which fell on Global Africa Day, at the Union Buildings in Pretoria.
On 25 May, hundreds of business and government offices from all over South Africa were filled with future leaders when thousands of schoolgirls participated in the 15th Cell C Take a Girl Child to Work Day.
Goss, along with other schoolgirls from all nine provinces as well as Namibia, Lesotho and Botswana, joined the Minster of Women in the Presidency, the Honourable Susan Shabangu, at the Union Buildings.
This year was made extraordinarily special as it also coincided with Global Africa Day – a day which commemorates the founding of the African Union.
Take a Girl Child to Work Day received voluntary support at the highest level from the Minster of Women in the Presidency as well as some of South Africa’s most respected women business leaders and women-owned organisations. All of this support continues to spark debate on the role of socio-economic development and the promotion of gender equality and empowerment.
Take a Girl Child to Work Day ambassador, Miss SA 2017, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, hosted fellow African national pageant winners who participated and celebrated this special day.
