Help us find missing St Stithians old boy

SANDTON – Update on Rob Gautschi who has been missing since 2000.

St Stithians old boy Rob Gautschi has been missing for more than 17 years and his anguished mother, Jenny has not stopped searching for him.

Rob attended St Stithians College in Bryanston and matriculated in 1998. He then enrolled at the University of Cape Town, studying towards a law degree.

In an article published in Sandton Chronicle at the end of March entitled ‘A heartbreaking story’ Rob’s family spoke about their continuing search for him.

His behaviour began to change drastically during his second year at university. Rob believed he was a prophet of Jah, began mixing marijuana with anti-psychotic drugs and began hanging around with a group of Rastafarians.

His family became increasingly worried about him and brought him to Riverfield Lodge, Lambrecht Clinic and Sterkfontein Psychiatric Hospital over the years. He also had sessions with psychologists at home. Sadly all attempts failed, with Rob either refusing medication or releasing himself from the hospitals.

Rob has been missing since 2000 with only a couple of leads on his whereabouts which led nowhere.

Since the article was published in the Sandton Chronicle, the story has had a total of 21 213 page views on the website. It reached 19 836 people on Facebook and was shared 458 times.

Jenny Gautschi said, “The article was posted on Facebook and people keep sharing it. It has prompted nearly 500 people to join the Rob Gautschi missing person group. I can’t express what this means to me. Thank you so much to Sandton Chronicle for all your help.”

The search for Rob Gautschi continues and if anyone has any information on his whereabouts or if you think you have seen him, please try and take a picture of him and SMS your details to Jenny on 083 297 8986 or provide details on the Facebook page Missing Rob Gautschi.
