Baroka’s Kunene bags Goal of the Month award
JOBURG – Baroka's skilful midfielder Mxolisi Kunene is the winner of the Goal of the Month for March.
Mxolisi Kunene of Baroka FC is the latest recipient of the Absa Premiership Goal of the Month award for his strike against Kaizer Chiefs in March in Polokwane.
The skilful midfielder produced a stunning goal following a great breakaway solo run from the halfway line as he waltzed past more than five Chiefs players to neatly finish past Itumeleng Khune for Baroka’s equalising goal in his side’s 2–2 draw against Amakhosi at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Kunene becomes the second Baroka player to win this prize following goalkeeper Oscarine Masuluke, who picked up the award for November in the exciting new recognition award for the best goal of the month.
The winning monthly goal was chosen as the best from the online votes by football supporters and the general public, who picked their favourite goal on the Premier Soccer League website.
Sponsors of the Absa Premiership, Absa, have rewarded football supporters who voted for the winning goal in March with a jersey of their favourite club. The winning fan was chosen by a random draw after voting for their favourite goal.
Each of the goals selected during the monthly voting will go towards the list of goals that will be voted for the Absa-lutely Goal of the Season at the end of the season.
Voting for the Absa Premiership Goal of the Month for April, which is currently open for supporters and the public to vote, will close at midnight on 31 May, and there were plenty of superb goals to choose from. Football supporters and the general public are urged to go to www.PSL.co.za and vote.
