Sandton Police are investigating an alleged road rage incident which occurred on South Road heading towards Morningside on 26 April.

A woman who was involved in the incident but wishes to remain anonymous said, “I did not see the man in a black BMW and suddenly he began hooting aggressively at me and my family. My son turned around to look at him and saw he was holding a gun. This man then drove to my left side and pointed the gun at me and my children. I thought I was being hijacked and was in complete shock. My son told my daughter to get down, in fear that he might shoot. We were literally staring at the barrel of the gun.”

The man in the BMW alleges he was not holding a gun but was trying to take a picture of the female with his mobile phone. “I know the difference between a gun and a mobile and it was definitely a gun I saw. I received details on the Sandton community forum stating that this is not the first incident with this man. He is extremely aggressive and has been involved in many dangerous incidents. I am fearful for me and my family’s safety as I am a single parent,” the woman said. She added that she went to Sandton Police Station to open a case.

Sandton police spokesperson, David Mothabo said, “No arrests have been made, the case has been opened and we are investigating the matter.”
