The Sandton Police recently arrested two suspects, aged 28 and 34, in connection with a ‘job for cash’ scam.
According to Constable David Mothapo, spokesperson for the Sandton Police Station, “The first scam happened when the victim saw an advert online for a flight attendant. The victim applied for the job and sent an email to job@mbstaffingsolutions.co.za.
“The victim received a response saying she was successful for the position, but must bring R145 for screening, ITC check, uniform and registration.”
Mothapo said she was given an address in Fourways where she met two men who said she will receive a salary of R11 600 with medical aid benefits and they promised that the R145 will be paid back to her.
“They told her they will send her the contract but instead sent her an application form and proof of payment and she was called for an interview,” said Mothapo.
The victim went for the interview at the same address, along with 30 other people who were also waiting for an interview but the men never showed up.

The victims then called the police after they saw another advert of the suspects with the address in Kelvin.
“Police responded and managed to apprehend the suspects,” Mothapo ended.
