Slipper Day campaign for Reach For A Dream

MELROSE – The Slipper Day will take place on 12 May and by simply purchasing a R10 wristband and wearing your slippers to work, school and varsity, you can help bring dreams to life.

 

The media launch for the Reach For A Dream’s Slipper Day campaign was held at the African Pride Melrose Arch Hotel.

CEO for Reach For A Dream, Julia Sotirianakos, thanks Wimpy and Pick n Pay for their generous efforts.

Celebrity ambassadors and influencers were present to create awareness for this special day and give hope to children fighting life-threatening illnesses. The Slipper Day will take place on 12 May and by simply purchasing a wristband for R10 and wearing your slippers to work, school or varsity, you can help bring dreams to life.

Chairman for Reach For A Dream, Mervyn Serebro says we can all learn from children battling diseases and overcome our struggles through their strength.

Fashion designer, Gert Coetzee and Metro FM, DJ Fresh, have been involved with Reach For A Dream for many years. Coetzee said, “This is my first time with the slipper campaign, however, I have worked for Reach For A Dream previously, whereby young girls fighting life-threatening illnesses were invited to my studio for a day of design and fun, where each girl made herself a tutu.”

South African fashion designer, Gert Coetzee is one of the celebrity ambassadors for Reach For A Dream.

DJ Fresh added, “I lost my cousin to leukaemia at the age of 13, it still resonates with me and drives me to want to help more. People always think that celebrities are self-involved but that is not the case at all.”

DJ Fresh, Gert Coetzee and Ogona Goniza amongst others got into the spirit of slipper day.

CEO of Reach For A Dream, Julia Sotirianakos said, “I would like to give a special thanks to Pick n Pay and Wimpy for their tireless efforts in the Slipper Day campaign. Last year we were able to raise an astonishing R550 000 and this year we are hoping for more.

DJ Fresh has worked with Reach For A Dream for many years and Ogona Goniza is a survivor.

“With your support, we can help make life better for children and adolescents with life-threatening illnesses.”

Slipper Day wristbands can be found at all Reach For A Dream branches as well as at Wimpy or Pick n Pay stores nationwide.
