Sandton Community Police Forum provides safety tips

SANDTON – The Sandton CPF has offered some safety tips whenever residents are going away.

 

The Sandton Community Police Forum’s Anthony Modena, chairperson for the forum provided safety tips for residents stating, “Act responsibly, exercise restraint and have regard for the rights of others at all times.”

He also included some safety tips for when residents when away from their homes:

  • Let your neighbours know when you are going away for any period of time
  • Leave a pair of house keys with a trusted neighbour who can access your house and draw the curtains and switch on lights
  • Get a trusted friend to house sit while you are away

  • Ensure all security provisions and alarms are enabled. Make sure that burglar bars are fitted properly and are in good condition. Ensure windows and doors are locked and closed properly
  • Make sure that electric fencing is functioning properly
  • Check that razor wire surrounding properties is in a good condition and is firmly attached to the wall.
