Bryneven Primary enjoys record-breaking gala

SANDTON – Bryneven enjoys an exciting swimming gala.

 

Bryneven Primary School’s annual inter-house swimming gala was hosted on 20 January and it was an opportunity for the little ones to break some records.

Four school houses competed in 61 swimming races for the winning cup.

Gemini, the yellow house, came in first place followed by Aquarius, the blue house. Scorpio, the red house, came in third and Capricorn, the green house, finished in fourth place.

Two records were broken on the day.

Loghan Gray in Grade 4, from Scorpio, swam the U10 individual 50m backstroke with a time of 00:43:05 beating the record of 00:43:09 from 1991.

The open Gemini swimmers, Abigail Da Costa, Aleksandar Vujovic, Tyler van Eyk and Danyl McNiven, also broke the record for the 25m breaststroke mixed relay.

Gray was awarded the junior Victrix Ludorum and Abigail Da Costa was awarded the senior Victrix Ludorum.

The gala announcer, John Walland said, “It was definitely a day for the girls at Bryneven Primary.”

Coach Caitlin Adams said, “I am incredibly proud of all the swimmers and I look forward to having these fantastic swimmers as part of our A league swimming squad this season.”
