Refuse collection problems

SANDTON – Ward 102 residents are experiencing refuse disposal delays and this is why.

Ward 102 is experiencing delays with refuse collection and the ward councillor for the area, David Potter, would like to make residents aware of this issue.

Potter elaborated, “Pikitup has historically had issues with their fleet, dating back four years to when a new fleet contract was entered into. The problem relating to fleets across the city [Johannesburg] continues and will take some time to resolve.”

He added that this issue stems from the fact that Pikitup, over the last couple of weeks, has struggled to get sufficient working trucks to complete the allocated rounds on the allocated days. “It is for this reason that your refuse may not have been collected on your allocated day.

“Currently, Pikitup is about two days behind the allocated schedule and has requested residents to be patient as they work to catch up. The executive [board] in the city is well aware of the inherited fleet challenges and will no doubt work hard to resolve the challenges in the medium term.

Any Ward 102 residents who have concerns regarding refuse disposal are encouraged to contact Potter.
