Honouring good security guards

SANDTON – Parkmore and Sandhurst residents celebrate local security guards who keep them safe.

Parkmore and Sandhurst Ext 4 residents recently celebrated the hard work that the security guards in their area have done.

On 28 November, the Parkmore Community Association (PCA) and Sandhurst’s residents’ association hosted a picnic in the park to say thank you to the guards and officers of 24/7 Security.

Kate Wardle, the deputy chairperson of the PCA said, “We asked residents from the communities to contribute to the thank-you bonuses and we are so grateful for their generosity. Thank you to all who contributed.

“We have seen a significant fall in crime in the past 12 months, with contact crimes falling to two to three per month. Overall, this time last year, we were experiencing six to eight incidents per week…”

She said that it is now mainly theft out of motor vehicles or theft of motor vehicles that are common.

Joseph Mathembe, who is the manager of the security company explained, “The security officers working at Parkmore and Sandhurst [Ext 4] have asked me to pass the message to all the directors and residents that they really appreciate what has been done for them by arranging a Christmas party and bonuses.

“It really makes them feel appreciated and proud to be part of the Parkmore and Sandhurst family.”

Toni Lutz, a Sandhurst resident added that, to his mind, this event was vital and he also reflected on some of this year’s successes in terms of safety and security. “We felt it was important to recognise the work these men put in keeping us safe and to extend a thank you to their families. Quick thinking and teamwork with the PCA meant two suspects were apprehended and arrested by 24/7 Security officers during this past year.”
