Police launch 16 Days of Activism

SANDTON – Sandton police recently launched the 16 Days of Activism for violence against women and children.

 

Sandton Police Station’s Social Crime Prevention unit recently embarked on a motorcade awareness campaign with the official launch of the 16 Days of Activism – a movement against violence against women and children that takes place annually from 25 November to 10 December.

The movement was officially launched in collaboration with the CPF, the Gauteng Department of Community Safety, youth leadership movements and various police stations within Johannesburg. Various communities also got involved and visited the Sandton policing area, including Parkmore and Woodmead and the informal settlement, Clay Oven.

The police distributed pamphlets at intersections and motorists and pedestrians were educated on issues of domestic violence and their rights.

Participants were there to interact with the community and listen to the challenges and problems they face. The community was given advice and provided with the relevant contact details to use in a time of need.
