Silver rowers earn gold

SANDTON – The Scoin Shop honours South African athletes with gold Mandela medallions.

South African 2016 Olympic rowers, Shaun Keeling and Lawrence Brittain, have both walked away with real gold, thanks to The Scoin Shop, based in Sandton, and The South African Gold Coin Exchange.

Both won Olympic silver at this year’s event, helping to take South Africa’s medal tally to 10.

English-born Alan Demby, managing director of The Scoin Shop and The South African Gold Coin Exchange, awarded the silver medallists with an iconic 1/2oz gold Mandela medallion in recognition of their wonderful achievement.

“I’m thrilled for this opportunity to honour our medal winners. They are a fine example of what is possible if you work hard and believe in yourself, just like Nelson Mandela. They have done our country proud, considering what they had to overcome,” said Demby.

The Scoin Shop and The South African Gold Coin Exchange have recently launched an initiative which will see every South African Rio 2016 medallist receive gold Mandela medallions. “Not only did Mandela unite a splintered nation but he proved that the power of the human spirit can overcome anything. With this in mind we believe that there was no better deserving winners to award than Shaun and Lawrence,” said Demby.
