947’s Producer Brad set to ride in this year’s Cycle Challenge

RIVERSANDS – 947 will once again shut down some of the busiest roads on the continent to give cyclists the opportunity to take over the city, on two wheels.

The popular radio station 947’s Brad O’Regan, also known as Producer Brad, has decided to put his body to the test and ride for a purpose at this year’s Telkom 947 Cycle Challenge on 20 November at Riversands Commercial Park.
According to 947 management, this year’s 20th Cycle Challenge will be bigger and better.

It will be O’Regan’s second Cycle Challenge and he admitted that unlike the previous one, he was training for it. “I have done it once before but this will be the first one where I am properly preparing myself,” he said.
“I still have nightmares from going into the last one without training. That last 25km, felt like I was riding a coat hanger with wheels.”
He added that it was a good way to test himself physically and that there was a real sense of accomplishment when one finished the challenge. “Also, it is a great day out in the city, my wife has been moaning a lot lately and it will get me out the house the whole day.”

O’Regan will be participating and riding in support of the Choc Cows. Choc Cows is a charity which raises money for CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation, and every year they select a range of projects that give real meaning to the phrase ‘supporting children with cancer’.
When asked why he decided to ride in support of the Choc Cows, O’Regan said, “Two of the guys I have been riding with are part of the Choc Cows. These guys are on another level and the stuff they put themselves through to contribute to this charity is inspiring. I felt the least I could do was join them.
“My father also passed away from cancer, so any contribution I could make against this disease is something I feel compelled to do.”
O’Regan is adamant that this time around the challenge will not get the better of him. He trains using a spinning bike and tries to do at least 20km a day, and joins his fellow Choc mates for a ride on the weekends for a minimum of 50km.
