Cute concert about the sea

BRYANSTON – Baobab Montessori Preschool in Bryanston hosted their annual concert and it was a hit.

Pupils of Baobab Montessori Preschool in Bryanston performed their annual concert recently.

The preschool’s principal, Jessica Ashby explained, “The concert was held at the prestigious Theatre on the Square, and this year’s theme was Under the Sea. The [pupils] loved being in the educational play that not only encouraged them to learn the words to songs, but the older children got to say a few lines.”

Ashby highlighted that the concert was filled with songs about sea creatures, jokes about schools of fish as well as a poem about dolphins and another poem about an octopus.

“The older boys were sharks and loved acting as the fiercest giants in the sea. The children were divided into groups. Toddlers were sailors and crabs and the preschool children were fish, dolphins, jellyfish, octopus, sharks and star fish.”

She added that she co-wrote the play for the pupils and the teachers taught the cast all of the actions and words to the songs. “The school] feels that this is our best concert yet. The atmosphere was amazing and parents loved every minute.”

Evangeline Mariola (6) was an octopus in the concert and said, “I loved singing and dancing. My mom and dad were in the front row and I loved seeing them clap for me.”

Kwezi Thabete (4) who was a fish exclaimed, “My mom and dad loved seeing me on the stage. They bought me a chocolate ice-cream because I was so good!”

The parents of the pupils also enjoyed the performance and one of the fathers, Karl Technau, commented, “We [want] to say a big thanks once again for the wonderful concert. It was a really wonderful experience. “
