SANDTON – Sandton Community Police Forum recently hosted a successful fundraising event at the Bardyard Theatre Rivonia.

The Sandton Community Police Forum would like to extend a warm thank you to all who supported the Sandton CPF Fundraiser Music Evening held on 9 September at the Barnyard Theatre, Rivonia.

The evening was well attended and judging from the feedback the Sandton CPF received, all had a great time.

The show entitled Six of the Best was a musical tribute to Freddy Mercury, Bon Jovi, Meat Loaf, Billy Joel, Cher and Pink. Recently retired Sandton Station Commander, Brigadier Billings was seen (dare we say rocking and rolling) at the event, while the Sandton CPF committeewomen in their visible yellow CPF bibs were at the entrance to assist guests as they arrived.

There was also a raffle and a selection of great prizes on offer. Sandton CPF Sector 2 and Sector 4 chairpersons Rob Cumming and Andrew McMurray respectively, gave an excellent short talk to a most receptive audience just before the show started, mentioning why the Sandton CPF requires funds and the role of the CPF in the Sandton community.

The money raised will be put to good use to assist with the many Sandton CPF projects underway and in the planning stages. These include a Licence Plate Recognition System (run from a central point that will require vehicles, dashcams, radios, cellphones, laptops, IT networks and servers); building an additional victim empowerment counselling facility and an identity parade facility at the Sandton Police Station; maintaining and upgrading the CCTV cameras in the front office at the police station; and upgrading the lecture room at the station.

In addition, the Sandton CPF has many monthly expenses, including the salary of the Sandton CPF administrative assistant, who always goes way above and beyond the call of duty; stationery such as printer paper and toner; payment of the sector commanders work-specific mobile phones and airtime so that they are always able to be in communication with the community; and maintaining the gardens at the station.

If there are residents or businesses in Sandton able to contribute to one or more of these projects in any way, be it time, money, skills or labour, your participation would be greatly and warmly appreciated. Please contact the Sandton CPF chairperson Anthony Modena on 082 901 2173 or email chairman@sandtoncpf.co.za should you wish to discuss your ideas further.

Kindly contact Sandton CPF administrative assistant Yogi Govender on 011 722 4317 or email admin@sandtoncpf.co.za if you would like to be added to the Sandton CPF database to receive the weekly newsletter.
