Protest at ICASA building in Sandton

Members from ICASA and SOS and Freedom of Expression are currently protesting outside the ICASA offices in Sandton.

Susan Mashinini is one of the protestors outside the building.

Mashinini, saidm “We are striking against the unilateral implementation of policies at ICASA concerning salaries including the inclusion of variable allowance which will take over salary increases which has not be explained to them. They are also against the intimidation expressed towards employees.”

According to our journalist at the scene, SOS are protesting the media censorship that they say, ICASA has allowed at the SABC.

The protesters that have gathered are waiting for their demands to be met outside the building.

Freedom of Expression is at the protest as well in support of the suspended SABC journalists.

Sheniece Linderboom from the freedom of expression institute said that the council at ICASA are currently discussing the various demands made by the differing organisations  and they are waiting outside for an answer.
