Massive water interruptions for Sandton

SANDTON - Numerous suburbs in Sandton will experience water interruption on 21, 22 and 23 June.

 

Johannesburg Water will conduct a number of planned water interruptions in Sandton on 21, 22 and 23 June.

Spokesperson for the agency, Eleanor Mavimbela said, “The water supply across the City of Johannesburg is normal, with reservoir levels across the city in a satisfactory position.”

Mavimbela added that Johannesburg Water will implement planned interruptions for maintenance reasons.

Bramley View Ext 2 will experience interruptions on Van Vuuren Road on 21 June from 9am to 3.30pm with the restoration taking place from 3.30pm to 5pm. The installation of individual and communal taps will be undertaken on this road.

Riverclub will experience interruptions on Borrowdale Road, on the corner of Wilge and Ballyclare drives and on the corner of Coleraine Drive and Jacaranda Street on 21 June. The interruption will be from 9am to 3.30pm, with a water pipe replacement taking place, and the restoration is expected from 3.30pm to 5pm.

Kelvin and surrounding areas, which include Woodlands, Wendywood, all Woodmead extensions, Gallo Manor, Morningside Manor, Marlboro North and Wynberg will have interruptions on all streets on 22 June from 7am to 5pm due to an upgrade in reticulation. The restoration will occur between 5pm to 8pm.

Sandown will experience water interruptions on 22 and 23 June from 9am to 3.30pm. On both days, restoration will take place from 3.30pm to 5pm. On 22 June, West Street between Rivonia Road and Wierda Road; and Rivonia Road between Pretoria Avenue and West Street will be affected. On 23 June, Fredman Drive between West Street and Gwen Lane will be affected. The reason behind the interruption will be the removal of an old pipe and installation of a new pipe to the main water source.

Mavimbela added, “We urge residents to remain active partners in reducing the amount of water used in the City of Johannesburg and to report any form of vandalism and theft of water infrastructure to 0800 00 25 87.”
