HURLINGHAM – Hurlingham based hospital celebrates service excellence at its yearly award ceremony.

Tara Hospital in Hurlingham celebrated their staff members’ achievements and dedication at their yearly award ceremony.

Clinical psychologist Jonathan Percale opened the event with an outline of the different categories and voting structures.

He spoke about service excellence and the importance of providing superior service in the medical care industry. “Even when things go wrong, if you address them directly and openly, you can still come out all right in the end,” he said

He added that the Tara service excellence awards was a celebration of teamwork and coming together as one to deliver excellent service to patients. Tara employees were in a jovial mood as nominees were announced for the individual category awards, with nominees receiving loud cheers from attendees.

Inspirational speaker, Sonia Booth gave a riveting talk on philanthropy and audience members were clearly moved, nodding in agreement.

“We as Africans are very fortunate that we were brought up with the notion of uBuntu, and it’s something that can’t be preached enough, because, at the end of the day, it is what makes our communities great. I am, because we are,” she said.

Booth added that everyone could be a philanthropist in their own small way and that it didn’t have to mean donating a large amount of money each month. “Even the small things count. Help the elderly with their daily tasks, lend a hand to a neighbour. It makes a difference.”

The final award for the day was the prestigious CEO award for excellent service. Tara CEO Dr Florence Otiano outlined the attributes she looked for when selecting nominees. “The winner of the CEO award is respectful, professional, shows leadership and is a model employee who upholds the values of Tara,” she said.

Otiano added that all the nominees were deserving and that Tara was fortunate to have so many committed employees.
