Change of date for water stoppage

Sandton - Residents may wonder why their water was not cut off on 3 May. There has been a date change to 5 May.

In the article, ‘Taps scheduled to run dry’ on 3 May in Ward 102, published in Sandton Chronicle week ending 29 April, it was explained that many residents would have no water on 3 May. However, the scheduled water interruption has been changed to 5 May.

Ward 102 councillor, David Potter said 10 000 properties in the area will have no water on 5 May. He added that this disruption would take place for several hours and the reason for the stoppage is for a water reticulation upgrade.

Joburg Water’s external communications officer, Eleanor Mavimbela, confirmed the water disruption. She said there would be no water from 7am until 5pm and that water would return to households between 5pm and 8pm.

The suburbs which will be affected comprise Beverley, Pineslopes, Lonehill, Fourways, Fourways Gardens, Witkoppen and extensions, Douglasdale and extensions, Norscot, Craighavon, Magaliessig, Paulshof and extensions, Epsom Downs, Bryanston and extensions, Bryanston East and West, Country Life Park, Solridge, Millhill, Kramerview, Clevehill Park, Petervale and Dainfern.

If residents have any questions, they are advised to call the Joburg Water 24-hour hotline.
