Vuleka School’s fun-filled open day

SANDTON – Vuleka High School in Bordeaux had an open day to encourage grade 7 pupils from surrounding areas to come to their high school.

Vuleka High School in Bordeaux opened its doors to many Grade 7 pupils from schools in the Sandton area such as IR Griffiths and Blairgowrie Primary School. Also in attendance were Grade 7 pupils from other areas such as Northriding and Randburg.

Headmistress Lizbe Pieters said the aim of this day was to encourage pupils to attend Vuleka High School. She explained, “This high school offers a top-class education at an affordable price for high school pupils. This school is subsidised by external organisations to make up the cost. There is a R7 000 difference between the amount that parents pay and the cost per pupil, thanks to the generous donations of organisations.”

The Grade 7 pupils were cared for by Grade 11 pupils and Vuleka High School teachers who coordinated a wide range of physical, creative and educational activities. These activities included an art and design class, poetry, science experiments and netball.

Pieters explained that this open day is unique because it is more of a fun day when Grade 7 pupils can experience the spirit of all areas of the high school.

Pieters ended off by saying that the school first and foremost offers a service to the surrounding communities through a good, quality education.
