Warming, educational charity work

SANDTON – Imagine.nation is a voluntary association that is determined to keep the underprivileged warm during the winter months.

Sandton resident siblings Mandy and Dean Benjamin have founded Imagine.nation, a voluntary association which focuses on uplifting society through education at three primary levels – social entrepreneurship, technical education and early childhood development.

With the rapidly declining temperatures and the winter chill in the air, imagine.nation is running an annual ‘winter warmer blanket drive’ organised by Sandton resident Maxine Gray, for those who cannot afford warm clothing and shelter during the winter months.

The team, which also includes fellow residents, Jonathan Muchnick and Taya Howell, has been passionately working on this project.

Gray has urged her friends and members of the public to be part of the blanket drive. She said, “Our winter warmer blanket drive became an official Imagine.nation project this year and we have had great success in raising funds to purchase 1 000 blankets that are being made up for us by the material shop, Fiona’s, which will be distributed to various crèches in Johannesburg.”

The association is also currently working on raising funds to build classrooms for creche’s in rural settlements that currently have little or no infrastructure, such as Boitshepo Creche. This is known as the Foundation Blocks project.

Imagine.nation is urging the public to consider donating funds or sponsoring building materials and equipment, second-hand jungle gyms and plastic scooters for this project.
