A hero is helped

SANDTON - a local Joburg resident was lent a helping hand by an unsuspecting hero recently after his car broke down in peak hour Sandton traffic.

According to a facebook post, a local Joburg resident was lent a helping hand by an unsuspecting hero recently after his car broke down in peak hour Sandton traffic.

According to the post, the car broke down and the driver was unable to fix the vehicle. He was then helped by a construction worker who was nearby. It was later discovered that this construction worker is one subject away from completing his motor mechanics qualification, but was unable to do so because of lack of funds.

This spurred the driver on to begin a fund raiser for the construction worker to complete his qualification.

Something really interesting happened to us last week and I’m hoping whoever reads this will help me out.

Dury‘s car broke down on the way to Suits & Sneakers (in the middle of peak hour Sandton traffic on top of it). After the event we tried to get the car sorted but with no luck. We decided to leave the car overnight and try fix it the next day. Dury went to buy the parts he thought were causing the problem and when we changed them, NOTHING happened, the car was dead to the world. Luckily for us!!!! The young lad in the pic Tshepo, who happened to be shovelling cement right next to the car piped up saying it was one of the modules that was damaged and thats the part we needed to replace. At this point I was really intrigued in how this youngster shovelling cement would know how to fix cars so I questioned him a little. Story being that Tshepo has been studying Motor Mechanics but failed 1 subject and never had the money to finish his course.

We bought the part he suggested and when we replaced the part, the car fired up first time. We would have been proper stranded in the middle of Sandton during mad Friday commuting had it not been for Tshepo’s help.

I really feel for this kid. He didn’t just fail his course and decide to become a beggar or the sorts but straight away went and found a job as its what he felt was necessary to save the money to finish his course.

I REALLY REALLY WANT TO HELP HIM!!!! He needs R11 000 and I think with some help I can raise the money to pay for his studies. I have already thanks to Craig Du Bruyn, Mark Sham, Paul Lopes, Nelson Mendes & Ondina Pires raised R3500 this week.

If there is anyone out there willing to help me with this please let me know. It can really change this young lads life for the better.
