WATCH: Brescia House School shows support for One Billion Rising Campaign

SANDTON - The pupils of Brescia House School have displayed their support for the One Billion Rising Campaign.

This campaign is recognised as the biggest mass action movement to end violence against women in human history.

Helga Bishop, marketing officer at the school said to show their support, the pupils gathered on the field to form the number 50 to celebrate Brescia House School’s jubilee year, before singing and dancing to Break the Chain, the One Billion Rising Campaign theme song.

The One Billion Rising campaign, which launched on Valentine’s Day 2012, began as a call to action based on the staggering statistics that one in three women on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime. With the world population at seven billion, this adds up to more than one billion women and girls.
