Miniature art heads to Hyde Park Corner

HYDE PARK – The Miniature Art Society of South Africa will be hosting the sixth World Federation of Miniaturists Exhibition at Hyde Park Corner from 17 to 21 February.

You may be wondering what constitutes miniaturist art. Traditionally, the size agreed upon internationally in contemporary miniature art is that the work should be ‘hand-held’. The subject matter is usually incredibly detailed and delicate, with the colours being vibrant and intense.

The mediums usually used are pencil and paint. Some pieces are sculptured and all forms are usually framed.

The World Federation of Miniaturists Exhibition will feature a number of intricate, palm-sized pieces created by artists such as Joy Gibson, Abe Mathabe, Hazel Kruger, Leonora de Lange and many more, including a few international artists.

It’s definitely a must-visit exhibition for art lovers of all ages.

The World Federation of Miniaturists Exhibition is taking place at the Centre Court in Hyde Park Corner every day from 9am to 9.30pm from 17 to 21 February.
