It is alleged that the suspects intimidated the homeowner’s domestic worker and threatened her with a knife as they stole electrical appliances from the house.
Spokesperson of Sandton Police Station, Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said, “We urge that the community does not open their gates or doors to strangers. If homeowners have scheduled an appointment and are expecting visitors at their homes, they need to inform their domestic worker as well as their gardener about the appointment.”
The suspects, who had firearms in their possession, told the homeowner’s gardener that they were there to collect rubble which led to their access onto the property.
“In a case of a house robbery, workers need to use a panic button to alert security guards patrolling the neighbourhood,” Maphakela said.
