BRACe hosts last meeting for this year

KELVIN – Residents were urged to remain vigilant during the festive season at the recent Buccleuch Residents' Action Community's (BRACe) quarterly meeting.

The meeting, the last one for this year, took place in Kelvin and saw the issue of safety and security tackled by chairperson, Dumisa Dlamini, ahead of the festive season.

“With the holidays approaching, crime tends to escalate, so residents are encouraged to take all the necessary precautions against crime,” Dlamini said.

Another issue discussed was development and greening, with the proposal of a public high school in Buccleuch brought up. The proposal called for the school to begin from primary school to Grade 9, with hopes to expand it in the future. “This is an initiative driven by parents [and there has been] some groundwork, all that is required now is the backing of the community,” Dlamini said.

Other issues discussed included the Waterfall Fields development and the impact it will have on the suburb, membership and finances, outreach programmes and service delivery.

The meeting concluded with the announcement of the next quarterly meeting which will take place next year on 9 February.
