SAPO updates residents following Bryanston post office confusion

BRYANSTON - The woes affecting the Bryanston Post Office persist, with residents continuing to express frustration with the on-going saga.

This follows the article, ‘Mail from Bryanston Post office is being redirected‘, week ending 20 November 2015′, where the South African Post Office clarified the issue of redirecting customers’ mail from the now-closed centre to the Bryanston West Post Office.

The closure of the Bryanston office was confirmed to be a result of non-payment of rent by the entity.

Following this, frustrated residents questioned when the mail would be available at Bryanston West, with some adding that they were informed that a new post office would be opened next month at Sloane centre.

Khulani Qoma, spokesperson for the South African Post Office, confirmed the issue of a new post office replacing the Bryanston one, but did not disclose whether it would be located at the Sloane centre.

“We can confirm that negotiations for a new venue for Bryanston Post Office are still underway at this stage,” he said.

Qoma also confirmed that all the mail addressed to the Bryanston Post Office had now been moved to the Randburg Post Office, despite earlier assertions that it would be available at Bryanston West.

Furthermore, the SA post office would be monitoring street delivery of mail in the suburb. “Residents who have any concerns, are welcome to send an e-mail to our customer service centre,” he concluded.
