Nedbank hosts its 13th annual Community Builder Awards ceremony

JOBURG – Nedbank hosted its annual Community Builder Awards recently to honour the men and women who continuously sacrifice their time to better their surrounding community and its members.

 

Now in its 13th year, the award ceremony recognises individual and team volunteers, with prize money donated to charity organisations where individuals and volunteers have assisted throughout the year.

Speaking at the glittering event, Thulani Sibeko, managing executive of group marketing, communications and corporate affairs at Nedbank, explained that the evening was about celebrating those who constantly put others ahead of themselves. “Today is about those that give selflessly to communities,” he said.

Sibeko said Nedbank had invested over R30 million in its individual and team volunteerism programmes. About 28 percent of the bank’s workforce participates in programmes each year, which is far above the national average of 3.5 percent.

MC of the awards, Andile Ncube commended all those who had given of their time and effort to make a lasting change in the lives of others.
