New band comes out guns blazing

JOBURG - Johannesburg has a band of stars on the rise and they're entering the music industry with their debut single, Mshiniwam, meaning machine gun.

It is not clear yet whether President Jacob Zuma has commented on the song similarly named to the infamous song he sang in parliament, Umshini Wam, but the adventurous risk takers that are Park MC are proud to release their defining song which features Vuzu Hustle competition winner, Big Star Johnson.

The hip-hop group, which was formed late in 2013, is made up of three members who go by the names Elizee, Kobblepot and DMK.

DMK and Elizee are brothers and they met Kobblepot at church.

Based on the place where the band was formed, perhaps there is something to be said about positive content coming from hip-hop music.

The lyrics of their debut single are not nearly as taboo as the song made famous by Zuma – this song explains that they are the machine gun, bursting onto the South African music scene.

“Mshiniwam is an introductory song, a dedication and declaration of the band’s arrival in the industry,” said the band’s manager, Blahtee Muchemwa.

“Their sound is very new and we believe that they are going to carry on working on it until it cannot be described in one sentence.”

The band is very excited about the fact that they were able to sign with Reforce Records for their first song, and even more excited to see what the future will bring them.

“They have just signed a recording deal and their job, now, will be to release quality music,” said the manager.

“There is a lot to find out [about the band], time will reveal all.”

What can you expect from the music industry newcomers?

“We have been given an opportunity to take our music to a higher platform, our definition of making it is making music that will have an impact on people,” the men agreed.

There is nothing else to do but watch this space and see what Park MC will come out with next.
