Suspect (18) arrested for rape in Buccleuch

BUCCLEUCH – The Sandton police recently arrested a man for his alleged involvement in a rape.

The incident unfolded in Buccleuch when the victim was spending time with the suspect and his friends at about 10pm.

Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for Sandton Police Station, explained that during this time the 18-year-old suspect asked the woman to take a walk with him around the complex.

“As they were taking a stroll, the suspect stopped the victim and allegedly started kissing her before taking her to a garage,” Maphakela said.

It is alleged that the suspect then forcibly removed her panties and proceeded to rape the woman. Maphakela confirmed that the police were then contacted and the suspect arrested and detained at Sandton Police Station where he was charged with rape.

“The suspect has since appeared in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court and was once again remanded in custody; he will appear again on 9 November,” he said. The case continues.
