Kyalami saddles up for cross-country action

Now in its third year, the much-anticipated cross-country and showjumping spectacle will take place on 31 October and 1 November on the galloping grounds of Waterfall Polo Estate in Woodmead.

Presenting the ultimate challenge of horsemanship – horse-and-rider combinations are required to perform three totally different activities within the same competition, namely dressage, cross-country and showjumping. The winner will walk home with prizes in excess of R250 000.

With competition coming from as far afield as the United Kingdom, France, Zambia and Zimbabwe, the stakes for this much-coveted competition are high.

Key highlights for spectators include the Sunday morning Pink Pony 5km Walkathon Cansa fundraiser, boutique style arena polo, an artisanal food and drinks village, delicious pre-packed picnic baskets, fun activities for the little ones and live screening of the Rugby World Cup finals at designated points throughout the estate.

Presenting a jam-packed weekend, the Polo International Horse Trials will appeal to all horse fanatics, thrill seekers and laidback lounge-a-rounders.

The annual Pink Pony 5km Walkathon Cansa fundraiser will start at 8am from Gate 10, Maxwell Drive at Waterfall Estate. Participants are encouraged to dress up in their best pink gear with prizes being awarded for the most creative outfits.

Four-legged family friends are invited too – as long as they are on a leash.

All money raised from the walkathon will go towards breast cancer and Movember fundraising initiatives.
