Malicious damage saga goes to court

WOODMEAD – Two cases of malicious damage to property will be decided by a judge in the Randburg Magistrates' Court.

This follows an incident in Woodmead where two motorists became involved in a heated dispute after the complainants’ cars were allegedly damaged in an incident.

Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela of the Sandton police said, “It is alleged that as one of the complainants tried to open their car door, the other complainant’s car was scratched in the process,” he said.

He said the incident took place in the Waterfall precinct in the early hours of 9 August.

Maphakela added that when the one motorist confronted the alleged offender, he denied scratching the car and an argument ensued between the two.

The two ultimately both opened cases against each other, each blaming one another for the damage to their cars, at the Sandton Police Station for malicious damage to property.
