The South African Guide-Dogs Association for the blind hosts starry night ball

PAULSHOF – The South African Guide-Dogs Association for the blind (Saga) will host their annual charity ball at Montecasino on 12 September.

Based on Vincent van Gogh’s Starry Night painting, the meaning behind this year’s glitzy event is twofold.

Gail Glover, executive director of Saga said, “On one hand it represents the isolation of the painter, but on the other it symbolises hope illustrated through the sky and scattering of the stars.”

Glover explained that at some stage in their lives, a person who is disabled or blind may be confronted by a feeling of isolation, as signified in the painting.

“At Saga we strive to give hope to the visually or physically-impaired and to autistic children by providing them with a dog to assist them on their journey to independence,” she said.

Guests can expect a spectacular performance from comedian Ndumiso Lindi and South African singer and songwriter Danny K.

Sponsors for the event include Montecasino, Bob Martin, Panorama Media Corp, Estee Lauder Companies, Moreson Wines, Lumi, Blond Productions, Gideon’s Flowers and Functions and Edith Unlimited.

All tickets cost R1 000 per person and R12 000 for a table of 12. All proceeds will go to Saga.
