Walking for extraordinary people

JOBURG - The Bidvest Unity Walk now in its sixth year, the nationwide walk among Bidvest employees and their families is will take place on 16 August at the Bidvest Wanderers Stadium.

The Bidvest Unity Walk, now in its sixth year, is a nationwide walk among Bidvest employees and their families and will take place on 16 August at the Bidvest Wanderers Stadium.

Since its inception in 2010, the walk has expanded immensely and will now also take place in Durban, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth on the same day. It aims to raise awareness of the QuadPara Association of South Africa (Qasa) as well as to donate wheelchairs to those in need.

The chief executive of Bidvest Group, Brian Joffe said, “The walk is a fun family event done in the name of goodwill as we walk for those who can’t. It is a day in which Bidvest Group companies can also celebrate this beautiful country, our health and families.”

Joffe has committed to donating one wheelchair for every 75 employees who complete the walk, as well as one wheelchair for every seven media people who participate.

Entertainment for those who finish the walk will include one of the best local hip-hop stars at the moment, Casper Nyovest, who will perform at the stadium.

“The sweat and tears through the walk on 16 August will bring tears of joy and freedom through the distribution of wheelchairs by Qasa for people who can’t enjoy the same mobility,” said Aris Seirlis, CEO of Qasa.
