Elderly man gunned down in Khyber Rock

KHYBER ROCK - An elderly man was shot in the neck and legs by four suspects following a shocking attack at his home in Khyber Rock at 5.30pm on 16 July.

 

A family member confirmed that the man passed away on 17 July, however, police could not confirm if the victim had indeed passed away and only said the matter was still under investigation.

According to a source close to the victim, the suspects opened fire on the man before fleeing the scene.

Spokesperson for Sandton police, Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela confirmed that when police arrived at the scene, they found paramedics attending to the victim.

“We do not have any information at this stage on what the suspects wanted, how many were involved, or why they attacked the victim,” he said.

He added that the alleged suspects were seen in a Nissan 1400 with a sticker on the side of the car with the word ‘pool’.

He added that no valuables seem to have been taken from the house, and a case of attempted murder has been opened. No arrests have been made at this stage.

Maphakela also appealed to the community to come forward with any information and to contact the Sandton police. The case continues.
