Honouring the best of the best at Sandton Police Station

MORNINGSIDE - The Sandton police celebrated the success of their best police officers during the Top Cops Awards at the station in Morningside.

The quarterly award ceremony honoured Sandton police officers who went the extra mile during the months of April, May and June.

The police officers were presented with certificates and gift vouchers by Brigadier Alan Billings of Sandton Police Station and Wendy Vorster-Robertson, the chairperson of the Sandton Community Police Forum.

“Today we are recognising people who have gone the extra mile and have gone out of their way,” said Billings.

“As Sandton police management and the Community Police Forum we want to say, thank you for all the work that is done for the community.”

Vorster-Robertson said she was privileged and humbled to be a part of the Sandton police. “We appreciate what you do,” she added.

Some of the individuals who were honoured included six police officers who were part of the Sandton police Vispol Operational Division. The officers were recognised for their hard work in solving a house robbery in Bryanston. Billings said the officers were being commended for their diligence.

Vispol Support members were also recognised for working efficiently with members of the public, taking fingerprints and catching up on administration work at the station. Sandton police detectives were applauded for their immediate action during the investigation of a challenging murder case which took place in their policing precinct. Accounts clerk, Teboho Seleke was also recognised for hard work and dedication.

“There is enough opportunity for police members to go the extra mile,” said Billings. He encouraged other police officers to also go out of their way to gain recognition at the Top Cops Awards.
