Traffic confusion at Buccleuch intersection finally corrected

BUCCLEUCH - Following complaints of non-operational traffic lights in Buccleuch, the Johannesburg Roads Agency finally restored the traffic lights at the intersection of Old Main Pretoria Road and Gibson Drive West.

Concerned Buccleuch resident Andrew McMurray said the traffic signals were restored on 13 July after the issue had been reported in April.

Another resident, Moin Khan said the non-functioning traffic lights caused major traffic delays, road rage and other issues.

“Fortunately the power has now been restored at this intersection by the power utility and the roads agency technicians will ensure the traffic lights are operational,” said Bertha Peters-Scheepers, spokesperson for the roads agency.

“We understand the significant impact that the non-functioning traffic signals has had on the safety as well as productivity of road users.”
