Reach For A Dream kicks off Slipper Day at the Sandton Police Station

SANDTON - Reach For A Dream Foundation kicked off their annual Slipper Day campaign in Sandton with the Sandton police.

This year, the non-profit organisation is encouraging all South Africans to wear their slippers on 7 August to help fulfil the dreams of children fighting life-threatening illnesses such as cancer, renal failure, heart conditions and blood disorders by wearing a pair of slippers in public and buying a slipper sticker for R10.

“On Slipper Day you can swap your regular work or school shoes for your favourite pair of slippers,” said Kitty Mothei, projects co-ordinator for the organisation.

“Slipper Day is a fun way for people to contribute a small amount of money and make a huge difference. This year’s campaign theme is, Don’t let their dreams disappear, and we need South Africans to come out in their numbers and buy stickers to support dreams.”

This year the foundation aims to raise R4 million, and all the money will go towards dreams and projects for severely ill children. The success of the campaign means that many of the children of the organisation will have their dreams made a reality.

Slipper Day stickers have been available at Wimpy stores since 1 July.
