The Charity Store appeals for volunteers and donations

KELVIN - The Charity Store, located at the Kelvin Village Shopping Centre on South Way Street, recently opened and is now appealing to residents for donations and volunteers.

The shop, aimed at raising funds for different charity initiatives, needs assistance and contributions.

Robert Miller, on behalf of the store, explained that volunteers are needed to assist in raising funds for the upcoming Nelson Mandela Day on 18 July. “We’d appreciate [it if] volunteers [could] bake cakes for a sale set to take place; all the proceeds will go towards Mandela Day,” he said.

He also said the store contributes towards supporting terminally-ill patients at the FWC Hospice in Hursthill, orphaned children in children’s homes and local community projects.

Residents can contribute anything from furniture, ornaments, books, toys, clothing, linen, glassware, paintings, records, CDs, DVDs, silverware and shoes among other things.

The store is open from 9am to 5pm from Monday to Friday and from 9am to 2pm on a Saturday.
