Missing Bryanston man allegedly dies of asthma attack in the Bahamas

BRYANSTON - A Bryanston man who was reported missing two weeks ago has been found dead in the Bahamas, allegedly having died from an asthma attack.

According to News24 the parents of Bryanston IT salesperson, Shaun Beukes, had been waiting two weeks to hear news on the whereabouts of their son.

Beukes had been in the United States for a work conference but after the conference ended he went to the Bahamas to visit a friend. Since going to the island, he failed to make contact with his family and friends in South Africa.

Beukes allegedly died in the Bahamas on 3 May.

An initial autopsy, conducted in America, ruled out foul play. However a more thorough autopsy will be conducted once Beukes’ body is brought back to South Africa.

According to a spokesperson for the Beukes family, the deceased suffered from asthma and may have suffered a fatal attack as his body was found with an asthma pump still in hand.

It is believed that Beukes called the police during the asthma attack. However he had already collapsed by the time police arrived.
