Brescia House School gives back to Soweto

SANDTON - Pupils from Brescia House School in Sandton collected food, warm clothing and books for the D Hani creche in Doornkop, Soweto.

Helga Bishop from the school said when the Grade 3 representatives arrived at the creche, everyone was delighted and grateful for the kindness and generosity shown.

“The food which was donated to these children is a real godsend as it is becoming very hard to keep the children fed with two meals a day when so many of the children come from destitute homes where there is no income at all,” explained Bishop. “There are many, many children who pay no school fees but are loved and fed at the school. It is only through the generosity of the community that this is possible.”

She added that the books went into the new library at the school and tthe library will be used by the creche and also the nearby primary school. “The gift of reading will give every little child a wonderful start in life and set them on the road to success,” added Bishop.
